Andrew Marckini
So I ordered my arming sword at the end of July and it arrived late October. I had good service when ordering and when I asked about updates I was given an answer rather quickly. Overall I love the grip. The construction is solid and the shape of the grip, cross guard, and pommel fit very nicely in my hand (with and without gloves). The blade is good too as it flexes but is not wobbly and arrived to me in good condition. Overall it’s weighted beautifully, making the way it plays feel better than the other arming swords I got to try out.
As for use. Due to an unexpected medical issue I was only able to do VERY slow work twice with it and solo practice. I was able to get a feel on how it felt I my hand and handled. I must say it handles amazingly. When I made cuts or went in for a bind it played just like I wanted it to (I don’t know if this is just me as a fencer or the sword but I did say it fit nicely in my hand and was weighted well).
As for more intensive sparring, I recently got the go ahead that I could start up again and this morning had two more intensive sparring matches with it. All the things I said previously about how it felt in the hand and when in use applies here. The main thing I want to add is that it took contact with my opponents’ buckler and sword very well and I can say there was only one burr that showed up and the only way you could tell it was there is if you looked REALLY closely and were trying to find one. Basically it’s so small it may as well not be there.
From what others who have gotten a chance to see how it feels they definitely like it as much if not more that the other arming swords out there.
I am definitely happy with the product and am considering getting a sidesword from Kvetun eventually if this is the quality I can expect from them.
